Sportsbetting in July and August can be a bit dry. On a typical year (assuming it isn’t a year when sports betting biggest event, the World Cup, is being held) there isn’t a lot going on in sportsbetting. That’s most likely the reason why the sportsbetting world becomes obsessed with Brett Favre and his retirement situation in the late months of every summer.
Sportsbetting fans have seen the interest level rise precipitously in the past few weeks as training camp looms and Favre will soon have to make a decision that could drastically alter the sports betting scene in the NFL season to come. In 2008 Favre retired from sportsbetting action with the Packers after several years of speculation only to join the New York Jets in one of the biggest moves in the entire sports betting year.
After the 2008 NFL sports betting season he retired once again. And he is apparently ready to unretired for a second time and rejoin the NFL sports betting action in a Minnesota Vikinigs uniform. Sound strange? That’s because the Vikings were his hated rivals in the sportsbetting when he played for the Pack.
While that’s an interesting story line the real issue at hand is whether or not Favre can make the Vikings a legitimate sports betting contender for the Superbowl title. And the answer to that sportsbetting query has to be a resounding YES. Sure, Favre isn’t in vintage form. He’s going to rack up interceptions trying to make throws that he used be able to complete. And of course the shoulder surgery will remain a big question for many sportsbetting gurus.
But the truth is that the Vikings are one of the best teams in the NFC without Favre. And even a sportsbetting novice knows that he is much better option at QB than either Tavaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels. With Favre playing even half as well as he played with the Jets last year this team will be a legitimate Superbowl sportsbetting contender.
The Vikings have running game capable of winning games on its own. When you factor in even a modest passing game, a savvy veteran like Favre and the explosive rookie receiver Percy Harvin, this offense is one of the most dangerous in NLF sports betting. And don’t forget that this is team that gave up just 76 rushing yards a game and 215 yards in the air. If Favre is can even perform at an average level, the Vikings will be contenders.
