Sports betting on Danica Patrick had seen her get a lot of attention in NASCAR since she is driving her GoDaddy.com car in the Nationwide series. What she is not doing though is being competitive and her online sports betting odds have her as a longshot every week.
Sports betting won’t see Danica on the board for another four months since she will be driving in IndyCar. It might be time for her to take a break since it is obvious she is not ready to drive in NASCAR. She has three Nationwide starts as online sports betting has it and has two wrecks and hasn’t even been in the Top 30. “It would have been nice to have a decent finish,” she said, “I feel bad for everybody that worked hard. I’m not the type of person that crashes cars.”
Danica will not be returning to Nationwide until June and it is unlikely she will be any more competitive in online sports betting then. What is sometimes forgotten is that she doesn’t win in online sports betting, even in IndyCar. She does well to finish in the Top 5 each week but is rarely a threat to win in sports betting. Her only career win came in Japan. She has had great equipment but has yet to prove she can drive. She can definitely market the sport though since she has a pretty face and that is what IndyCar and NASCAR want. It really doesn’t matter to them that she can’t drive. She is using the owner’s provisional to get starting spots in NASCAR because her qualifying times are not any good. She at least moved up a little bit in Saturday’s sports betting race. “I was feeling better and better and better all the time,” she said, “I was having a lot of fun here at a track that’s smooth, and [crew chief] Tony [Eury], Jr. did a good job of bringing a car that gave me confidence from the first run out there.”
Sports betting odds don’t have Patrick as anything more than a novelty in NASCAR. At least in IndyCar she is given some kind of chance to win although she is still well back of the top three or four drivers in sports betting. It is now time for Patrick to turn her attention to IndyCar and prove she can be competitive in that series. Remember that some IndyCar drivers like Dario Franchitti who are champions in IndyCar couldn’t win in NASCAR sports betting and Patrick is not in his class as a driver.
