Online sports betting could be impacted on the Iowa Hawkeyes as the team suspended starting guard Anthony Tucker after he was arrested for public intoxication. The Hawkeyes will really be hurt in college basketball sportsbetting results without their second leading scorer.
Online sports betting had Iowa defeating Drake 71-67 on Saturday and Tucker had 17 points in the win. He was averaging 11.9 points per sportsbetting game which was second on the squad. Iowa athletic director Gary Barta said Tucker would be suspended indefinitely. Tucker pleaded not guilty to one count of public intoxication and was released Sunday. Barta said that the school was very unhappy about the arrest. It is not the first time that Tucker has been in trouble.
Online sports betting showed that he pleaded guilty to public intoxication in December 2008. He also was ruled academically ineligible last sportsbetting season. “I have communicated with men’s basketball coach Todd Lickliter. At this point, I do not have all the details of the incident. I can tell you, we are able to confirm that Anthony Tucker was arrested.” Barta said, “Based on that confirmation, Anthony will be suspended for an indefinite period of time.”
Police reports said that Tucker was arrested at 2:05 a.m. on Sunday morning. This could be the last straw for Iowa in dealing with Tucker. He has continually been in trouble since coming to the team. There have been online sports betting rumors that Tucker may transfer from Iowa but Tucker said that was not the cases. He did say that before Sunday’s arrest. “People just assume that I’m always going to be the first one to go or the first one to want to leave,’’ Tucker said. “But there is no truth to it. I’ve never said anything to coach or ever considered leaving.’’
Iowa has been an online sports betting mess this season already and this latest news surrounding Tucker is not going to help. The Hawkeyes are 4-7 straight up and a terrible 2-8 against the online sports betting odds. Iowa has very little offense so the loss of Tucker is going to hurt in sportsbetting. Overall though it might help in the long run in online sports betting since Tucker seemed to be more of a distraction than a help. The Hawkeyes are likely to have a very long season in the tough Big 10 this year.
