Gil is no stranger to the Midwest or to the fans at Kansas. He was a great quarterback for Nebraska in the early 1980s when they beat up on the Jayhawks. Until this season, Kansas had been very good under Mangino but allegations surrounding Mangino rocked the Kansas program and eventually led to Mangino resigning after the season.
