Sport betting saw Manchester City fire manager Mark Hughes and replace him with former Inter Milan head man Roberto Mancini. Hughes was fired even though Manchester City won on Saturday in online sports betting against Sunderland to move into sixth place in the Premier League.
Sport betting has seen Manchester City get only two wins in their last 11 matches and that lack of success cost Hughes his job. Mancini knows all about getting fired. He won three Serie A titles in a row with Inter Milan but didn’t win the European title as online sports betting showed, and was fired.
Manchester City is still six points behind the top four spots in the Premier League as sport betting stats show. Now the team will look to Mancini to lead them up in the online sports betting standings and perhaps into a spot in next season’s Champions League. He is one of a number of former Italian mangers to move to the Premier League. Chelsea has Carlo Ancelotti, West Ham has Gianfranco Zola while Roberto Di Matteo is with West Bromwich Albion.
Manchester City will be facing Stoke on Saturday in sport betting and that will be Mancini’s first game at the helm. Manchester City will also be playing an FA Cup match at Middlesbrough and a League Cup semifinal against Manchester United in sport betting.
It has been a while in sports betting since Manchester City has won a title. They have not won since the 1976 League Cup. Mancini is the 14th different manager at City since Alex Ferguson went to Manchester United in 1986. Sport betting stats show that during that time United has won the Premier League 11 times in addition to two Champions League crowns and five FA Cups.
Hughes said that he was not told he was fired until after the online sports betting win over Sunderland. “Notwithstanding media coverage to the contrary, I was given no forewarning as to the club’s decision.” Hughes said. “Given the speed with which my successor’s appointment was announced, it would appear that the club had made its decision some considerable time ago. I am extremely disappointed not to have been given the opportunity to see through my plans at the club.” City management was not happy though with recent sport betting results. “A return of two wins in 11 Premier League games is clearly not in line with the targets that were agreed and set,” said City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.
