Mickelson to Play in BMW Championship Sportsbetting

Sportsbetting has Phil Mickelson in this week’s BMW Championship. Mickelson has not played as many events this season on the PGA Tour since his wife and mother were diagnosed with breast cancer.  The BMW Championship is the third of the four FeExCup playoff events and will have exciting sports betting online odds at the sports book.

Sportsbetting on Mickelson is normally popular even though he has not played well of late.  He tied for 26th last week although he did have a nice final round 66.  Sportsbetting indicates that Mickelson has only played six times since May.  He has struggled for the most part and has dropped to 12th in the FedExCup standings.

This is a key week for all of the golfers in sportsbetting.  Only the Top 30 players in the FedExCup standings get to play in next week’s THE TOUR Championship.  The winner of the FedEx Cup receives a $10 million bonus.  Tiger Woods has led the standing for much of the year but not anymore. Steve Stricker won in sports betting online last week in the Deutsche Bank Championship and moved ahead of Tiger in the standings.  It was the third win of the sportsbetting golf season for Stricker. He finished with back-to-back birdies for a 4-under 67 and a one-shot win. “Knowing I had to make a couple of birdies and actually doing it means a lot,” he said.  The points in the standings reset after this week’s tournament so Stricker is guaranteed to be no worse than #2 heading into THE TOUR Championship.

Tiger had a very nice 63 in the final round last week but it was not enough to pull off the sportsbetting win.  He is the favorite this week in sports betting online at the sportsbook considering he has won at Cog Hill four times in the past.  This course was home to the Western Open from 1991 to 2006, then host to the BMW Championship in 2007. In last year’s BMW Championship it was Camilo Villegas winning wire to wire in golf sportsbetting. He was two shots clear of Dudley Hart. Vijay Singh wrapped up the FedExCup last season in this event even though he finished 44th.  That won’t happen this time since points are reset after this event.

In addition to looking at Woods, Stricker and Mickelson this week in sports betting online, gamblers might also want to take a shot with Angel Cabrera or Retief Goosen as they are both playing well.
