Sportsbetting has the University of New Orleans pulling out of the Sun Belt Conference.New Orleans was one of the original members of the conference when it was formed in 1976 but the university does not have the money to remain competitive at the Division 1 level. Sports betting online had seen New Orleans go 7-11 in college hoops so far this season.
Sportsbetting has New Orleans transferring to Division III status. “It is unfortunate that UNO finds itself in financial constraints that have necessitated such drastic measures, but there is a time when tough decisions must be made,” New Orleans chancellor Tim Ryan said, “While we are proud of our past membership in the Sun Belt Conference, the university has to make changes that will allow NCAA-sanctioned athletics to continue at the Division III level.”
New Orleans was simply devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 the university has never really recovered. Sports betting online indicated that they had to get NCAA waivers just to stay at the Division I level. Sportsbetting had the university deciding that they simply can’t afford to compete at the upper levels so they are pulling out of the Sun Belt. “The last several years have been unquestionably difficult on the university and the athletics department,” Sun Belt commissioner Wright Waters said, “The university’s assessment that has led to its withdrawal from the Sun Belt Conference has assuredly also been another difficult chapter for UNO. UNO is our third longest tenured member and they will be sorely missed.”
New Orleans has been a factor in sportsbetting in the Sun Belt Conference in college hoops for many years. This will be the last sportsbetting year that is the case. The Sun Belt in college hoops will now have 12 schools on the sports betting online board. Sportsbetting has the East with Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Middle Tennessee, South Alabama, Troy and Western Kentucky in the East. Sports betting online had the West with Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Denver, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe and North Texas.
Sportsbetting on the Sun Belt Conference does not get a great deal of attention but that doesn’t mean some of the teams are not good. Western Kentucky is one of the teams in college hoops that seem to make a mark every season when NCAA tourney time rolls around as they are a mid-major power.
