The Green Bay Packers are the online sports betting favorites to win the Super Bowl at Sbg global but Green Bay’s chances took a hit on Tuesday with news that top running back Ryan Grant will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.
The Packers are still loaded with talent on offense so don’t expect their offshore sports betting odds to change much even with Grant lost for the year. Grant was injured in Green Bay’s win over Philadelphia last week. Grant has been a very solid running back for Green Bay and he will be missed but the Packers are very confident in backup Brandon Jackson.
Injury-riddled Week 1 – There were a lot of major injuries in Week 1 in the NFL. Many of the injuries came to key players that will impact the NFL offshore sports betting odds this week. The one to Grant is making big news but the odds on Green Bay are not really going to be affected. There are some other ones that will.
Quarterback Injuries – Whenever a quarterback gets hurt it is big news in online sports betting. There were a lot of quarterback injuries last week. The Detroit Lions lost Matthew Stafford to injury and he could be out for a month. The Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers each had their quarterbacks suffer concussions and both Kevin Kolb and Matt Moore are questionable this week. With Stafford being out the Lions will turn to Shaun Hill and while he is an NFL veteran he does not have Stafford’s talent. If Kolb can’t go then it would be Michael Vick for the Eagles. The odds are not really affected whether Kolb or Vick play. If Moore can’t go for Carolina then it would be rookie Jimmy Clausen and the Panthers odds would take a slight hit.
Other Injuries – The Philadelphia Eagles also suffered key injuries last week to their starting center and to their fullback and both players are out for the season. The New York Jets lost their starting nose tackle Kris Jenkins to a season-ending injury. Even players who didn’t get the headlines were nicked up. St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson had some swelling in his right knee after Sunday’s game.
