Sports betting could be a little bit different on the Portland Trail Blazers for the next few games as they will be without leading scorer Brandon Roy. He is expected to miss the next four games and the online sports betting odds will be different without him in the Portland lineup.
Sports betting had Roy getting hurt on Wednesday in Portland’s win over Philadelphia. Roy injured his hamstring and is undergoing treatment by doctors of the Seattle Seahawks. The Blazers and Seahawks have the same owner so it makes sense that Roy is getting treatment from Seattle’s doctors. Roy is one of the superstars in the NBA and his absence does affect sports betting odds. He is averaging 23.1 points per game this online sports betting season. Roy is a two-time All-Star and the best player on Portland’s team.
Roy is not expected to play in Monday’s game as the Blazers host New Orleans in online sports betting. He also won’t play on Wednesday in the game against Utah. The Blazers don’t expect him to go on the road for games at Houston on Friday and Dallas on Saturday. They are hoping he can return next week as they host Charlotte.
The Blazers have had a lot of injuries this sports betting season but Portland has survived so far. They have already lost centers Joel Przybilla and Greg Oden to season-ending injuries earlier this season. They just got back Rudy Fernandez who had missed 19 games. They are hoping to get Nicolas Batum back sometime within the next week.
What is surprising in sports betting is how well Portland has done with all of the injuries. They entered Monday’s play at 26-17 which was basically the same pace they were on last year when they won 54 games. The Blazers are 24-20-1 against the NBA pointspread this season. That sounds good but eventually the injuries are going to affect Portland in sports betting. Losing Roy for a game or two can be overcome but having him out for a week is going to very tough for Portland to overcome. Those who are looking at sports betting this week would do well to be very cautious about taking Portland even at home against New Orleans and Utah. They could be a team to go against in online sports betting at Houston and Dallas later this week.
