Sports betting odds early in the baseball season have not favored the Toronto Blue Jays that often but the team sure has been winning. They have gone 5-1 in their first six games, all on the road. They are coming off a sweep of the Baltimore Orioles in online sports betting.
Sports betting odds could start to favor Toronto a little bit more now that they are off to such a good start. The Blue Jays got home runs from Jose Bautista and Alex Gonzalez on Sunday after Baltimore’s Miguel Tejada committed an error with two outs. The Blue Jays were down 2-1 heading into the eighth inning against Kevin Millwood. They would have gone to the ninth trailing but Tejada misplayed a grounder by John McDonald and the flood gates opened.
Bautista hit a 1-2 pitch into the left-field seats and Gonzalez followed with his second home run of the game. Edwin Encarnacion hit at home run in the ninth to make the final score 5-2. Kevin Gregg got the save and the Blue Jays swept the Orioles in Baltimore for the first time since 2004. Gonzalez has four homers and at least one hit in all six games this season.
Toronto has won five straight in baseball sports betting after losing their opening game. What is the most surprising part of the success for the Blue Jays is that every game has been on the road. They took two of three at Texas before sweeping the Orioles. Toronto plays their home opener on Monday against the White Sox and that will be the first game of a four-game homestand for the Blue Jays. Toronto should start to get some respect in sports betting odds based on their strong start to the season.
Alex Anthopoulos is the new general manager in Toronto and things have started very well for him so far. The Blue Jays were not expected to do much this season, especially after losing Roy Halladay in the off-season. The Blue Jays were not even an after thought in the American League East in online sports betting this season behind New York, Boston, Tampa Bay and even Baltimore. New players like pitcher Brandon Morrow, shortstop Alex Gonzalez and catcher John Buck have made an impact.
Toronto has won four straight home openers overall in sports betting. “You always want to come back home with a good record. You can’t deny the fact that the games count now but once you get going at your home opener, the season’s officially started.” Toronto team president Paul Beeston said.
