Sports betting companies favor Boise State in their season opener against Virginia Tech on Monday, September 6th. That game is arguably the top one in college football for Week 1. This will be the last season for Boise State in the WAC as they are moving to the Mountain West Conference next season. It should be another great season for Boise in the WAC. They were picked on 42 of 43 media ballots to win the WAC this season. Their quarterback, Kellen Moore was picked as the preseason offensive player of the year. Nevada was picked second by the media while Fresno State was forecast for third. The media chose Nevada end Dontay Moch as the preseason defensive player of the year.
Boise State should not have any trouble in the conference this season. They return 21 of their 22 starters from last season’s unbeaten squad. BS has a powerful offense led by Kellen Moore. The Broncos led the country in points per game last season. Moore threw for 3,536 yards and 39 TDs. Boise State also had a great defense as they allowed just 17.1 points per game.
Boise State is getting a big time reputation and that is sometimes tough to live up to. They have been very good under head coach Chris Peterson. They are 47-2 SU and 26-18-2 against the sports betting number the past four years. The Broncos won all eight of their conference games last season and went 5-3 against the spread.
Boise State is going to get a real test in their opener. Virginia Tech is as good of a team as the Broncos have played in recent seasons. If BS can win their opener they will be in contention for a national title. If they lose, they will fall out of national title discussion and probably out of BCS bowl consideration. The Broncos could also get a test in their third game of the season as they host Oregon State. Their WAC schedule is easy as always and this year they get Fresno at home although they do have to travel to Nevada.
