Canadian Open Odds Available at Sports Betting Companies. Sports betting companies have odds up for this week’s PGA Tour event with Paul Casey the early favorite at sports betting companies. The Canadian Open will return to St. George’s Golf and Country Club for the first time since 1968 and many top players in the world will be trying to get a win. Casey played well last week at the British Open and he is one of the sports betting favorites in Canada.
Sports betting companies list Casey, Luke Donald, Retief Goosen and Sean O’Hair as the four main contenders this week. Another of the players who will get a lot of attention this week is Canada’s Mike Weir. He has experience on this course although he is not among the favorites. The course at St. George’s is a par-70 that is very similar to the layout 42 years ago. It is a course that has a lot of trees and challenging greens.
Normally the Canadian Open does not attract a strong field but with the tournament being played at St. George’s, many top players are going to Canada this week. Eleven of the top thirty players in the FedEx Cup standings are in the field including the above mentioned Casey, Goosen and Donald. Also in the field are Tim Clark, Camilo Villegas and Hunter Mahan.
Casey is the highest ranked player in the field this week but coming off a tough loss last week in the British Open could be difficult to recover from in the short time period. O’Hair and Goosen also have that problem though. You may want to consider players that didn’t travel to St. Andrews. Matt Jones could be one to watch this week. He is seventh in PGA stats overall and he has eight Top 25 finishes this year. He has some appealing numbers to as he is listed at 60-1 in sports betting odds. The top player in PGA Tour stats is Matt Kuchar and he is overdue for a win. Kuchar is listed with odds of about 30-1. With the greens expected to be very tough at St. George’s another player to watch should be Brendt Snedeker. He is the top ranked putter on the PGA Tour. He is listed with odds of more than 30-1.
