Sports Betting – Cardinals Going with a Rookie at Quarterback. The Arizona Cardinals have gone from having a future Hall of Fame quarterback last season to a rookie this year and Arizona is not getting much respect in NFL sports betting odds. The Cardinals are about a touchdown underdog in sports betting online at home this week against New Orleans.
The Cardinals will be going with undrafted rookie Max Hall as their starting quarterback this week as they host the Saints. Now before you think that all is lost for Arizona you should know that Hall is well respected by the coaches and players and he can’t be any worse than Derek Anderson.
Cardinals Believe in Hall’s Potential – The Cardinals know what they have in Derek Anderson and that is an inconsistent quarterback who throws interceptions. They are not sure what they have in Hall but they like what they have seen. Hall was a great quarterback in college at BYU and he played very well in the preseason and impressed coaches and players. Anderson threw two interceptions last week against San Diego and was benched in favor of Hall. The numbers for Hall were not that great last week as he was 8 of 14 passes for 82 yards without an interception but the Chargers knew he was going to throw on every down and he was sacked six times.
Hall has some potential. He is not an average NFL rookie. He is 25 years old and has some nice NFL bloodlines. His uncle is Danny White who played quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Hall won a lot of games at BYU but because of his size was not drafted. He has reminded the Cardinals a lot of Kurt Warner who was also undrafted. The difference is that Hall doesn’t have the size or the arm strength that Warner had.
Cardinals are Tied for the Division Lead – In the NFC West a 2-2 record gets you tied for the division lead. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt knows that the Cardinals are not going to win with Anderson so he is taking a shot with Hall. If Hall can do a reasonable job then the Cardinals can make the playoffs because a .500 record might be good enough in the weak NFC West. Arizona is a 6.5 point underdog in sports betting at SBG in their game against the Saints this week.
