Sports Betting Companies – Carl “Who” Favored in this week’s Golf Odds

You may not have heard of him but Carl Pettersson is the favorite at sports betting companies to win this week’s PGA Tour event. Sportsbetting odds at SBG list Pettersson with odds of 15-1 to win the Wyndam Championship that begins on Thursday. Sports betting companies list Ryan Moore as the second choice at 20-1 and he probably should be the favorite.  He won this tournament a year ago and he comes in playing well.

Putting:  Pettersson is the favorite and he is capable of winning this tournament and he has some value at 15-1.  He was the winner of this event two years ago. He ranks third on the PGA Tour in putting and there is no question that putting will be important this week.  Another great putter is Brandt Snedeker and he won this event in 2007.  He is 25-1 in golf odds at sports betting companies.

FedExCup Race:  This is the last event that players can get points in to qualify for the FedExCup Championship that begins in two weeks.  Only the top 125 players will qualify.   The focus will be on players just outside the top 125 like Mike Weir who is 126th and Henrik Stenson who is 133rd.  While the media will be focused on those players on the fringe, gamblers should be looking at players this week who could move into the top 30 of the FedExCup standings with a win.  Not many players who begin the FedExCup playoffs outside the top 30 have any realistic chance to win the FedExCup.  Ryan Moore could actually move into the top 10 in the standings if he wins this week.  Snedeker, Brian Gay, Marc Leishman, Fredrik Jacobson and Kevin Na could move into the top 30 if they win this week.

Longshots: If you want a longshot this week then take a look at Brian Gay. He is third on the Tour in fairways hit and 16th in putting. Those are winning stats at the Wyndham Championship.  Woody Austin is 45-1 in golf odds and he is playing well of late with nine straight rounds under par.

The Wyndham begins on Thursday and you can watch the tournament on the Golf Channel on Thursday and Friday and on NBC on Saturday and Sunday.
