Knicks Improved vs. Sports Betting Companies Odds with Stoudemire. The first big free agent move that will impact odds at sports betting companies has happened with Amar’e Stoudemire going to the New York Knicks. Stoudemire can’t officially sign his deal with the Knicks until later this week but an agreement was reached that will pay Stoudemire almost $100 million dollars over the next five years. He immediately upgrades the Knicks significantly in terms of sports betting NBA odds.
Sports betting companies continue to monitor NBA free agency. The biggest names like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are still on the board but Stoudemire is now off the market. The Knicks still have money remaining and it will be interesting to see who else they bring in to support Stoudemire.
Many free agents have already gone back to their teams so Stoudemire becomes the first big name to switch teams. He is a major loss for the Suns and a great addition for the Knicks. In recent days, Paul Pierce, Joe Johnson and Dirk Nowitzki all re-signed with their current teams. It could be that LeBron James also re-signs with Cleveland although that decision has not been announced. With the Knicks getting Stoudemire it keeps them in the running to land LeBron.
The Knicks had to take a hit this past season on the court to make sure they had the money in the future to turn the franchise around. Getting Stoudemire is huge. He is an extremely productive player and has already shown that he can play in Mike D’Antoni’s system. The Knicks will immediately become a sports betting contender with Stoudemire and even if they don’t get anyone else this year, they will have even more money to spend the following season. New York team president Donnie Walsh has been preparing for this year’s free agent class for two years by cutting salary and it is now starting to pay off.
If the Knicks can’t bring in another free agent for this upcoming season they could do a sign and trade with David Lee to get a star point guard. They have talked to the Warriors about Monta Ellis and they are also reported to be interested in San Antonio guard Tony Parker. There is no question that things are definitely looking up for the Knicks for 2010-2011.
