Sports betting companies will have odds on the board for the 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star game next week. The American League will be favored as normal in sports betting odds, especially since they have the home field advantage with the game played in Anaheim.
Sports betting companies get a bit of a break with the All-Star game since there are no games in baseball on Monday, June 12th or Wednesday, June 14th. The All-Star game gets a little action though and it has the potential to be interesting. Most of the roster spots have been determined but there is still a spot open on both teams that the fans will decide. There are five players in the running in each league for the final spot. Early voting had New York Yankees right fielder Nick Swisher and Reds first baseman Joey Votto in the lead. Swisher is competing for the final spot with Boston first baseman Kevin Youkilis, Texas third baseman Michael Young, Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko and Twins left fielder Delmon Young.
In the National League the last spot should go to Votto based on his numbers but with fan voting you never can tell. The other four players in the running are Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, Atlanta closer Billy Wagner; Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez and San Diego closer Heath Bell. The final vote totals will be released on Thursday. The winner in each league will be the 34th player on each roster.
All five players in each league can make a case for the last spot. Chicago first baseman Paul Konerko has 20 home runs and 57 RBIs as he continues to impact sports betting baseball odds. Swisher has 13 homers and 47 RBIs to go with a .293 average. Youkilis has a .299 average, with 17 home runs and 54 RBIs, Michael Young is hitting .307 with 11 home runs, 55 runs and 51 RBIs while Delmon Young has nine homers and 55 RBIs to go along with his .298 average.
In the National League, Heath Bell was leading the league in saves, Carlos Gonzalez had 14 homers, 52 RBIs, 12 steals and 49 runs scored, Votto had 19 homers, 57 RBIs, with a .312 average; Wagner is 5-0 with 17 saves while Zimmerman has 14 homers and 44 RBIs.
