Tiger Woods is favored at sports betting companies to win the Memorial Tournament this week. Tiger has not played well this year but he is still a solid favorite in sportsbetting odds. The only two golfers with single-digit odds are Woods and Mickelson.
Sports betting companies expect some good action this week on the Memorial Tournament since six of the top ten players in the world are in the field. Tiger is the favorite at about 6-1. Phil Mickelson is the second choice at 9-1. Neither Tiger nor Phil is playing well lately so it will be interesting to see how each player does this week. Tiger has not been in contention to win all year while Mickelson missed the cut last week at Colonial. Both players are still very talented and they are also popular with the public so they have low golf odds.
There are some other golfers who may get a serious look this week in sportsbetting. Steve Stricker is the fourth ranked player in the world and he is in the field. Jim Furyk, Ernie Els and Rory McIroy as the other players in the field ranked in the top ten in the world.
Tiger has really done well in the Memorial, winning it four times including last year. He also had victories in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Kenny Perry is a three-time champ as he won it in 1991, 2003 and 2008. Perry is 30-1 in golf odds to win this week. Other past champions in the field this week are K.J. Choi who won in 2007, Carl Pettersson who won in 2006, Els in 2004, Furyk in 2002, Vijay Singh in 1997 and Tom Lehman in 1994. Last year it was Tiger beating Furyk by a single shot in the tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus.
Els is the third choice in the betting this week at 18-1 while Furyk is 20-1.
McIlroy, Adam Scott, Geoff Ogilvy and Choi are 23-1. Tim Clark, Dustin Johnson, last week’s winner Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Stricker and Camilo Villegas are each 30-1.
There is a Memorial Skins Game on Wednesday that includes Nicklaus, Woods, Mickelson, Furyk, Els, Perry, McIlroy, Stricker, Sean O’Hair and Zach Johnson.
The Memorial Tournament begins on Thursday with the first two rounds televised on the Golf Channel. The weekend action will be televised by CBS.
