When you bet baseball at sports betting companies you probably don’t take the Arizona Diamondbacks very often. That may not change anytime soon as the Diamondbacks continue to struggle. Arizona is routinely an underdog in sports betting baseball odds and the numbers could be going higher as the Diamondbacks remake their roster.
Sports betting companies will have to adjust their odds on some teams after the Major League Baseball trading deadline which is just over a week away. The Diamondbacks could be very active as they want to pretty much start over from scratch. There may not be any players who are untouchable other than perhaps Justin Upton. The team is being led by an interim general manager in Jerry DiPoto and an interim manager in Kirk Gibson and the future is not bright for Arizona.
The Diamondbacks are definitely shopping pitcher Dan Haren. He is considered one of the top free agents on the market but the problem for Arizona is that Haren is not pitching well. Last week he gave up eight hits and six earned runs in just five innings against San Diego. And that type of performance is becoming more common place for Haren. There are many teams looking for a quality starting pitcher but Haren has not done himself or the Diamondbacks any favors lately with his performance. It could be that Arizona can’t trade him because of his high contract and his subpar performances.
Arizona would like to unload a number of players and get help for their horrible bullpen. They would also like to rebuild what is a poor farm system. Haren would seem to be the perfect trading piece to rebuild but he is currently in the midst of a four-year, $44.75 million deal that doesn’t end until 2012. His price tag could be too high.
Just how bad has it been for Arizona this season? They are one of the worst teams for sports betting gamblers to take. The Diamondbacks have a losing record at home and on the road they are just abysmal. Their hitting is just average and the pitching is the worst in the league. There are not many positives for Arizona and that makes them an undesirable team for gamblers to wager on.
