Sports betting fans live for football. But with no game for another six months the NFL online sports betting calendar for the NFL is relatively dead. That’s why the upcoming NFL draft is such a huge event for sports fans, not only because it will have a huge impact on the NFL sports season to come, but simply because it’s the first NFL related event that online sports betting events have seen since the Super Bowl.

Sports fans have sent the hype surrounding this once ignored event grow every year for the past decade. And despite what some sports betting analysts might say, it’s a good thing for the sport and for sports fans. Aside from the Super Bowl it is the single most important day on the NFL calendar and NFL online sports fans should definitely take note of it. Beginning April 26th the NFL draft will get underway and for the next two days the entire NFL sports betting community will focused on what’s going on at the Madison Square Garden event.

As almost every sports fan must know by now, the Miami Dolphins have the first pick in this year’s draft. However, with the hapless Dolphins needing help at seemingly every position and no single player separating himself from the pack this could be one of the most unpredictable drafts that the sports betting world has seen in years. The top three names being bandied about as the possible number one pick by sports experts are DE/OL Chris Long, OT Jake Long (unrelated) and QB Matt Ryan.

Ryan doesn’t have the talent to be taken at number one over all, according to most sports analysts and the Fins like young QB John Beck. That means that either of the Longs will likely be the top pick unless the pick is traded, which is real possibility according to many sports media members. The Dolphins have reportedly only been negotiating with Jake Long, but that could very well be a decoy. Most people in the sports betting community expect that Chris Long will be the pick if the pick isn’t traded.

After all, most sports betting fans can remember back to Dolphin’s head man Bill Parcells days in New York, and he didn’t do so bad when he drafted an outside linebacker named Lawrence Taylor to kick off his Super Bowl run with the Giants.
