Sports Betting Handicappers Note Another Eagles Trade

Sports betting handicappers continue to follow the Philadelphia Eagles as they make trades. The Eagles traded quarterback Donovan McNabb a few weeks ago and now they have made a three-way trade with Detroit and Denver that got them linebacker Ernie Sims.  Sports betting online odds are definitely going to be interesting on the Eagles this season

Sports betting odds don’t list Philadelphia as a favorite to win the Super Bowl but there is no doubt this latest trade will improve their team.  Getting former first-round pick Ernie Sims is a big upgrade.  The Eagles only gave up a fifth round pick to get him. The Broncos sent tight end Tony Scheffler and a seventh round pick to the Lions as part of the deal. “I’m just real excited. I’m ready for a new beginning,” Sims said.

Philadelphia had all kinds of trouble last year at the linebacker position. Seven different players started at least one game.  Sims should definitely upgrade the position.  Sports betting online statistics indicated that he was the ninth overall pick in the 2006 draft.  He played weakside linebacker for the Lions and could be a starter for the Eagles right away. “I’ve been competing my whole life,” Sims said. “I don’t expect to come in and just be handed a job. I expect to come in and work for my position.”

Sims is only 25 years old. He missed five games last year with shoulder and hamstring injuries. Sports betting statistics have him with 505 tackles, 2.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and one interception in 59 games. “Ernie Sims is an impact player at the linebacker position,” Eagles coach Andy Reid said, “He brings a lot of energy to our already energized defense. We are looking forward to adding him to our team.”

Philadelphia should be a whole lot better on defense this season.  They got rid of Will Witherspoon, Chris Gocong and Jeremiah Trotter. They are getting back Stewart Bradley from injury and they already traded for Cleveland linebacker Alex Hall. And now they have Sims. “We are excited to acquire Ernie Sims,” general manager Howie Roseman said. “He plays fast, he’s aggressive and his style is a great fit for our defensive scheme. He is a leader who was a team captain for the Lions and we are eager to see what he can do in our defense.”
