Sports Betting – More Bad News for Pathetic Panthers

Sports Betting – More Bad News for Pathetic Panthers. The worst team in the NFL both straight up and against the sports betting point spread is the Carolina Panthers. They have scored the fewest touchdowns in the league and they are averaging 11.6 points per game which is the worst in the NFL.  And it may not get any better in sports betting online as the Panthers have lost their top running back to a season-ending injury in addition to both their first and second string quarterbacks being out with injuries.

Carolina Misery
Normally when you handicap a game in the NFL you can make some kind of case for taking both teams.  It is getting really hard to make a case for taking the Carolina Panthers.  They are looking at starting either rookie Tony Pike or journeyman Brian St. Pierre who they just picked up off the street.  It might not be so bad if Carolina had a running game but DeAngelo Williams is out of the year with an injury, No. 2 running back Jonathan Stewart has a concussion and third-stringer Tyrell Sutton has an ankle injury.

At least Mike Goodson played well last week. The offensive line is in no better shape.  The team could be without all five projected starters on Sunday.  Right tackle Jeff Otah is out for the season and left guard Travelle Wharton has turf toe.  And there is more bad news as top linebacker Jon Beason has a knee injury while No. 3 receiver Brandon LaFell is recovering from a concussion.  And it is not like the team is going to play hard for head coach John Fox who is likely to be fired after the season.

Ravens a Solid Bet
The Ravens definitely look like a good bet this week but then again, any team going against Carolina looks like a good bet. The Panthers have no passing game, no running game and an average defense. They are going to have major trouble scoring against Baltimore.  The Ravens are 10-point favorites in sports betting at the Sbg global sportsbook and there is simply no reason to think they won’t cover the spread at Carolina.  The Panthers are the home team but they have no incentive to win for a lame duck coach and they have no offensive capability of putting points on the board.
