Sports Betting Odds Now Favor the Yankees

Sports betting baseball odds now favor the New York Yankees to win the 2009 World Series. If you are wondering how that happened you just need to look at the American League East standings. The Yankees are in first place and look stronger than the Boston Red Sox and that has made their online sports betting odds at the sportsbook drop.

Sports betting odds at the online sportsbook on the Yankees winning the World Series are now at about 3-1.  Those online sports betting odds are down from earlier in the season when the Red Sox were favored in online sportsbetting odds over the Yankees.  The Yankees had made it to 20 games over .500 for the first time since 2004.  While they look good in sportsbetting lines, suddenly the Red Sox do not.  Boston suddenly can’t hit and their pitching staff looks thin.  They do have Theo Epstein as general manager though, so they should not be underestimated in online sportsbetting odds.  The Red Sox just recently added Adam LaRoche and Chris Duncan while giving up very little.  Expect them to make further moves before the July 31st trading deadline.

The Yankees suddenly look very potent in sports betting numbers with an imposing lineup of Derek Jeter, Mark Texeira, Alex Rodriguez and a host of other veterans.  The pitching staff with CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett looks solid in sports betting stats and the bullpen is now unhittable with Phil Hughes taking over the setup role in front of the best closer in baseball, Mariano Rivera.

Sports betting information shows that the trading deadline is fast approaching and the Yankees appear in a better situation than the Red Sox.  Boston would love to add a top flight pitcher like Roy Halladay who can impact sportsbetting odds, especially with Tim Wakefield and Daisuke Matsuzaka on the DL.  John Smoltz was expected to be the answer but he has not pitched well as sportsbetting stats show.  The Red Sox still have Josh Beckett and Jon Lester though so they can’t be counted out in sportsbetting.

The sportsbetting odds on the Red Sox and Yankees rarely give gamblers much value as both teams are popular.  They are still the two favorites in sportsbetting to win this year’s World Series even though the Phillies are the defending champs and the Dodgers look strong.
