Sports betting on the Seattle Seahawks in the future could be all about quarterback Charlie Whitehurst The Seahawks paid a pretty high price to get the San Diego third-string quarterback so they believe that Whitehurst could be leading them in the future. If the Seahawks are to win this season in Internet sports betting they will probably still need starter Matt Hasselbeck to play well.
Sports betting odds on the Seahawks list them as a contender to win the NFC West in 2010. The Seahawks have a new head coach in Pete Carroll and a lot of optimism. They are also looking at Whitehurst to help them down the road. The Seahawks traded second round picks with San Diego in this year’s NFL Draft plus the Seahawks will send the Chargers a third-round pick in the 2011 draft. Whitehurst was signed to a two-year, $8 million contract, with $2 million more in incentives. The Seahawks are definitely serious about Whitehurst playing for them in the future. “We are all about competition,” Carroll said. “Charlie has tremendous talent and upside and we are very excited to watch him develop and help our football team.”
Sand Diego had put a third round tender on Whitehurst but the Seahawks didn’t have a third round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. The teams worked out a deal though. Whitehurst has never even thrown a pass in a regular season game but he was highly sought after around the NFL. The Seahawks had to pay a high price since the Arizona Cardinals also wanted Whitehurst. The Cardinals signed Derek Anderson since Whitehurst told them he preferred to go with Seattle.
Seattle is considered more of a contender this season in the NFC West because Arizona does not have a proven quarterback. Kurt Warner retired in the off-season and the Cardinals also lost wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Many people in sports betting now believe that Seattle can contend for the division title this season along with San Francisco and Arizona. The Seahawks have made some nice off-season moves and they continue to change things around under head coach Pete Carroll. There is no question that the Seahawks are going to be an interesting team to follow in 2010. With a new head coach and a new philosophy, they could be an Internet sports betting success.
