Sports Betting Page – Leafs & Stars Surprising NHL Bettors

Raise your hand if you thought the Toronto Maple Leafs would be making news at the sports betting page.

I didn’t think so.  The Leafs had the worst record in the Eastern Conference last season but they are 4-0 for the first time since 1993-1994.  Not only did Toronto start 4-0 in sports betting at Sbg global but the Dallas Stars also started 4-0.

Toronto Offense – The Leafs are winning with an offense that is scoring some goals. The Leafs scored 16 goals in their first four games.  Clarke MacArthur has been a major surprise as he has five goals and was tied for the league lead.  Paul Kessel has four goals and he is another player you probably haven’t heard of.

J.S. Giguere – Toronto finally has a goaltender who knows how to win.  The Leafs got J.S. Giguere who used to backstop the Anaheim Ducks and he has been great. He is 3-0 with 1.98 goals against average and a .914 save percentage.  The Leafs are playing very well in front of Giguere and they are also doing well killing penalties. They had killed off 93 percent of their penalties through the first four games. The Leafs have home games this week against the Islanders and Rangers that will put their unbeaten streak to the test.

Dallas Stars – The Stars have also been a surprise this season on the sports betting page. They have had some luck on their side as well as they have won in overtime three times already this year.  The Stars were not good last year in overtime as they had 14 losses which was the second most in the league.  The Stars have had solid goaltending so far from Kari Lehtonen who has started every game. He had 2.39 goals against average and a .932 save percentage in the first four games. The Stars are playing solid defense as Brad Richards and Loui Eriksson were tied for the league lead in plus-minus rating with James Neal right behind. The Stars have games at Tampa Bay and Florida this week so they may not remain perfect.

Nashville – The Predators are also unbeaten in regulation but they did lose in overtime on Saturday so they sit at 3-0-1.  The Predators have gotten solid goaltending from Pekka Rinne and they are also in the top ten in the league in goals scored.
