Sports betting page news turned for the worse for backers of the New York Jets as super star cornerback Darrelle Revis will miss the game due to a strained hamstring. SBG circled the game as the Miami Dolphins were a 1.5-point favorite with an over/under of 35. Kickoff Sunday night on NBC is at 8:25 PM Eastern.
A Big Payday
Revis was a key holdout during Jets training camp as he missed the widely acclaimed reality TV series “Hard Knock” which got the Jets and their brash head coach Rex Ryan plenty of attention.
Revis’ holdout was a key issue throughout training camp as the Jets were bragging about a Super Bowl season in 2010 but knew that it would be far less possible without Revis shutting down the top receivers of their opponents.
Burned Badly
Revis was signed right before opening day and is already catching criticism for the holdout as it is being blamed as the reason for his injury. Revis had tightness in his hamstring in practices leading up to last week’s 28-14 home win over the Jets AFC East Division rival New England Patriots but he made the start and said he was ready to go. After New England’s Randy Moss beat Revis on a spectacular one-hand grab for a 34-yard touchdown at the end of the first half, Revis immediately grabbed his leg and was taken to the trainer’s room without returning to action.
A Growing List
The Jets are beginning to look like an army platoon that is being decimated with injuries as their Internet sports betting list of hurt players now includes linebacker Calvin Pace (broken foot), All Pro offensive center Nick Mangold (shoulder), backup offensive lineman Wayne Hunter (shin), and linebacker Jason Taylor (left elbow). Al except Revis and Pace should end up playing on Sunday but their effectiveness remains a question mark.
Key Game
The matchup with Miami on Sunday will make plenty of sports betting page news as the winner will take over first place in the AFC East. While the Jets have the reputation for a great defense the Dolphins unit is actually ranked higher than New York and is number 1 in the NFL for points permitted. Unlike the Jets the Dolphins go about their business quietly but just as effectively.
