Sports Betting Page – Defending Super Bowl Champion Saints Beat Vikings Again

The 2010 NFL regular season began on Thursday night and the New Orleans Saints made the top of the sports betting page as they defeated the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 14-9. It was kind of an ugly opener but the Saints did enough to beat the Vikings again.  Last year they beat Minnesota in overtime and this time they won a low scoring contest and unlike last year, they covered the Internet sports betting number.

The Saints covered if you got the 4.5 at the Sbg sportsbook. It was not an easy win for New Orleans and it was definitely not pretty but hey, a win is a win.  The Saints don’t have much time to rest on their laurels as they go to San Francisco for a Monday Night game and then they host division rival Atlanta in Week 3.

Saints Run to Victory – We all know that the Saints love to throw the ball with Drew Brees. They did that a lot in the first half against the Vikings and it got them nowhere. They ran it just three times in the first half and they trailed 9-7. They rectified that problem in the second half as they gave the ball to Pierre Thomas who ran it right down Minnesota’s throat.  His running and Brett Favre’s mistakes were enough for the Saints to get the win.

Farve Lost the Game – As much as New Orleans gutted out a win, Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre lost it. Sound familiar?  Favre threw an inexplicable interception that cost the Vikings the NFC title last year and he was off against the Saints on Thursday. He missed open receivers and simply did not play well. Think training camp and the preseason don’t matter Brett?

There was definitely a Super Bowl hangover for the Saints but they did enough to get the win and that is what good teams do.  Even though they did not play their best they found a way to win.  That is the quality they had last year when they beat the Vikings and nothing has changed.  The news at the sports betting page is that the Saints are still better, Brett Favre is older and the Saints beat the Vikings again.
