Sports Betting Site – Seeds Announced for Next Week’s U.S. Open

The U.S. Open begins on Monday with odds available at the SBG sports betting site. The U.S. Open announced the top seeds on Tuesday with some surprises on the women’s side. With Serena Williams out, Caroline Wozniacki is the top seed but she is not the sports betting favorite.

Sports betting site odds list defending U.S. Open champion Kim Clijsters as the favorite with former champion Maria Sharapova the second choice.  Wozniacki is the third betting choice.  The two favorites on the men’s side are Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Rankings Determine the Seeds:  The U.S. Tennis Association went totally according to the WTA rankings to determine the top seeds.  Serena Williams is the top ranked player in the world but she is out due to injury.  Wozniacki is the second ranked player so she gets the #1 seed at the U.S. Open.

Wozniacki was the runner-up last season.  She was beaten by Clijsters who is the second seed.  If the seeding holds up then it would be a rematch between Clijsters and Wozniacki in the final. Venus Williams is the third seed and she is followed by Jelena Jankovic and Samantha Stosur.

Sharapova gets no Respect in Seeding Maria Sharapova is the second choice in tennis odds but she got no respect in the U.S. Open seeding as she is listed at #14.  Sharapova nearly beat Clijsters a couple of weeks ago and could be a real threat to win.

Men’s Top Seeds:  The top seeds on the men’s side were no surprise as Rafael Nadal is seeded number one with Roger Federer at number two.  Defending champion Juan Martin Del Potro withdrew due to injury.  Novak Djokovic is the third seed with Andy Murray seeded fourth.

Federer is actually a very slight favorite in tennis odds at +200 while Nadal is +220. Andy Murray is the third choice at 3-1.  Djokovic is next at 14-1 while David Nalbandian is getting some serious action at 15-1.  Tomas Berdych is also 15-1.

The only two other players attracting any attention at all in the betting are Robin Soderling at 18-1 and Andy Roddick at 23-1.

Schedule:  The U.S. Open begins on Monday with first round action so you want to pick your winner of the tournament right now.
