Sports Betting Fans Can Watch CFL Games on the NFL Network. Fans who like to watch and wager on CFL games in sports betting will be happy to learn they can now watch some of the games on the NFL network.
The Canadian Football League and the NFL agreed to a deal that allows the NFL Network to broadcast 14 regular season games. It was a deal that got completed at the last minute but it included the Internet sports betting CFL opener between Montreal and Saskatchewan.
Sports betting odds on the CFL could get a boost with some of the games being televised on the NFL Network. The 2010 CFL season began on Thursday night with a rematch of last year’s Grey Cup between the Alouettes and Roughriders.
The NFL Network will be showing three Saturday night games in the month of July but with the network showing all of the NFL preseason games, they will not pick up CFL action again until September. The network will show games on Friday nights from September through the end of the CFL sports betting season in November.
The CFL is very happy with the increased exposure that the NFL Network will give them. The CFL is really not followed much in the United States by sports betting gamblers because the games can’t be seen on a U.S. television network. With the games on the NFL Network, the interest should increase in United States cities. The deal is also a good one for the NFL Network since they can boast even more live games on their network.
The CFL has really not been a league that the NFL has looked at as a sort of minor leagues. There are occasionally some players who go from the CFL to the NFL but for the most part the NFL gets new players from the colleges. Perhaps that will start to change a little bit with the CFL players getting more visibility in the U.S.
What this agreement also does is increase the exposure of the CFL in terms of sports betting. Anytime games are televised they immediately get more action from Internet sports betting gamblers. The CFL needs the added exposure and the NFL Network is now a big player in the TV market place.
