Sports betting website handicappers are both alarmed and perturbed by the poor start of the Minnesota Vikings as they are 0-2 straight up and looking bad in the process.
Stalled and Sloppy Offense
The Vikings opened with a 14-9 loss at New Orleans and followed that up with a 14-10 loss last week to Miami in their home opener as 5.5-point home favorites. They have gone under the total in both games as their offense ranks 31st in scoring. Minnesota committed 4 turnovers in the loss to Miami as Brett Favre threw three interceptions and lost a fumble in his own end zone that resulted in a Miami touchdown. The game ended in frustration as running back Adrian Peterson was stopped cold in a 4th and goal rushing attempt from the 1-yard line late in the 4th quarter.
Weak Receiving Corps
Sbg global.com handicappers are becoming concerned about the Vikings inability to stretch the field. Favre’s top receiver, Sidney Rice, is out with a hip injury until week 7 and wideouts Percy Harvin and Jaymar Johnson are also sidelined. The Vikings have tried in desperation to trade for All Pro San Diego hold out Vincent Jackson but the price was too high and they were unable to come to terms for a deal. Favre has been left with Bernard Barrian, Greg Lewis, and Greg Camarillo who have combined for 7 catches for 89 yards. To his credit Favre has not placed the blame on anyone and said that the team has to produce with what it has.
Defense Bedrock of Team
The Vikings offensive woes have put added pressure on the defense, which has been the sports betting asset of the team thus far as it ranks 7th overall in the NFL. Minnesota has wasted two great defensive efforts against playoff caliber teams because of their inept offense.
Favre Looks is Age?
Brett Favre is closing in on 41 years of age and has looked the part with his lack of mobility and with no big play receivers that can stretch the field. His QB rating of 56.1 is an embarrassment and has led to sports betting website speculation that he may not be able to finish the season due to the physical punishment that he is taking due to increased pressure from defenses that are teeing up on him. The question is if Favre would look so old with a better receiving corps?
