Sportsbetting reports have Tiger Woods getting ready to his come back to golf this month. Some of the sportsbetting reports have Tiger making his return for the Accenture Match Play Championship which is played from February 17th through the 21st. Woods would immediately be the sports betting online favorite if he returned for that event.
Sportsbetting has not seen Tiger for a while since he took a leave of absence after a sex scandal rocked the sports betting online world. Some believed that Woods might wait until the Masters to make his return but sports betting online reports now have him considering the Accenture tournament. That would make some sense since it is a match play event and Woods has excellent in match play events throughout his career. The last time that Tiger was away from golf he chose a match play event to make his return. When he came back from his knee surgery the first sportsbetting tournament he played was the World Golf Event which was match play.
Match play is interesting in sportsbetting since it has one player going up against another in a college basketball tournament type format. Woods would play the 64th ranked player as sports betting online stats indicated if he does indeed return for the Accenture. Match play is a good sportsbetting format for making a return since one bad hole won’t ruin an entire round like it might in a tournament.
Accenture was one of the sponsors that dropped Woods so it is interesting that he is considering a return to their tournament. What is also interesting about the Accenture tournament in sportsbetting is that World #2, Phil Mickelson has announced he is not playing in the event. Sports betting online indicated that Woods does not have to make an official announcement on whether he will enter the Accenture until February 12th.
Many golfers are hoping that Woods makes an appearance before his first tournament just to clear the air. Wherever he goes for his first event is going to be a media circus. Geoff Ogilvy is one golfer who wants Woods to have a public interview before he returns to the tour. “One, out of respect for all the other golfers, and two, to diffuse the circus part of it before he actually gets to a golf tournament,” Ogilvy said, “I don’t believe a lot of tournaments want all the tabloid media floating around. It would be nice if he came out away from a golf tournament. When he does come back to golf it would still be a bit crazy but that tabloid edge might be gone.”
