The WNBA season is underway and sports betting odds are on the board. The defending champs are the Phoenix Mercury but a number of off-season trades have shaken things up in online sports betting as the WNBA season begins.
Sports betting odds on WNBA games should be unpredictable in 2010 as many teams contend for the title. Minnesota made a big deal in the off-season as they got Lindsay Whalen from Connecticut. Whalen should make the Lynx and immediate contender in the Western Conference. Phoenix didn’t sit still in the off-season after their title as they sent All-Star guard Cappie Pondexter and Kelly Mazzante to the New York Liberty. New York sent All-Star forward Shameka Christon and Cathrin Kraayeveid to the Chicago Sky and then Chicago sent All-Star forward Candice Dupree to Phoenix. The Mercury looks really good with Dupree, Diana Taurasi and Penny Taylor.
Los Angeles is not the team they were a year ago without Lisa Leslie so their sports betting odds should change. They will have to rely upon Ticha Penicherio to lead them this season. Seattle might be the better team in the Western Conference. The Storm just needs to stay healthy this season. They also need to start living up to their potential. The Storm has superstars like Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird but they have done nothing in the playoffs.
San Antonio has some talent but just as many questions while Minnesota was looking good until Seimone Augustus and Candice Wiggins got hurt. Tulsa moved from Detroit and didn’t take much talent with them.
The Eastern Conference should be wild with New York, Indiana and Connecticut making a run for the top spot this season. The Liberty have a Hall of Fame Coach and now they have Cappie Pondexter from Phoenix. Atlanta should be improved this season and may make some noise. Washington is in trouble with Alana Beard out of the lineup and Chicago doesn’t look very good either.
As you look at the WNBA sports betting odds and follow the teams in their televised games you will notice that sponsorship has taken over. Teams will have company names on their jerseys. Los Angeles has Farmers Insurance while Phoenix signed a deal with LifeLock. The WNBA increased their TV ratings last year and with the sponsorship deals they may increase their visibility even more in 2010.
