Federer Pulls Out of Dubai Sportsbook Tournament. Sportsbook odds would have had Roger Federer favored this week at the Dubai Championships but Federer had to pull out due to a lung infection. His defection leaves this tournament wide open in odds at the online sportsbook. Sportsbook has this as a major tennis event that Federer would have liked to have played in. He is a four-time winner of the event as online sportsbook stats indicated but due to the infection he will rest the next couple of weeks and hopefully return at Indian Wells on March 11th. “I’m hoping to be back for Indian Wells.
But of course, there are no promises,” Federer said. “This is something that will be finished only with proper treatment. I’ve been taking it easy, relaxing as much as possible. My breathing is a bit difficult and everything feels a bit slow. I can’t take any chances until I’m fit again. It could be better, it could be worse.”
The tournament also lost 2008 winner Andy Roddick who would have been among the contenders to win at the sportsbook as Roddick withdrew from the event on Saturday The defending champion is Novak Djokovic and he will be one of the favorites at the sportsbook along with World #3 Andy Murray who is playing for the first time since losing in the Australian Open. Other contenders in online sportsbook odds include Nikolay Davydenko, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Marin Cilic.
Djokovic would really like to win this event as sportsbook has it since he has never defended a title in his career even though he has won 16 titles. “I’d like to do that here for the first time in my career,” Djokovic said, “I’ve played well here the last few years, I hope I can perform at my best again.”
While Djokovic and Murray will take over the favorite’s role at the sportsbook, neither is happy that Federer is not playing. “It’s disappointing for the event but if he’s sick and not feeling well..,” said Murray. “He played through illness a few years back (glandular fever) and it didn’t do him much good. “You don’t want to let those things drag on.” Murray should be a popular choice at the online sportsbook to win this event.
Not to be forgotten at the sportsbook are tennis odds for the Davis Cup which begins early next month with first round action.
