FIFA Penalizes Chelsea Sport Book. Sport book fans of Chelsea are very upset, as the FIFA has banned Chelsea from signing any players until January of 2011. Internet sportbook information indicates that Chelsea was penalized after being found guilty of getting Gael Kakuta to break his contract with Lens.
Sport book enthusiasts saw Kakuta join Chelsea in 2007. Sport book tells us that Chelsea plans to appeal the ruling and said as much on their website. “Chelsea will mount the strongest appeal possible following the decision of FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber over Gaël Kakuta. The sanctions are without precedent to this level and totally disproportionate to the alleged offence and the financial penalty imposed. We cannot comment further until we receive the full written rationale for this extraordinarily arbitrary decision.”
After the FIFA sends documentation to Chelsea the team will have ten days to file an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport. There is little doubt in the minds of sport book followers that is exactly what Chelsea will do. The FIFA statement as shown on Internet sportbook sites said that “The DRC found that the player had indeed breached a contract signed with the French club. Equally, the DRC deemed it to be established that the English club induced the player to such a breach. As a result the player was condemned to pay compensation in the amount of €780,000, for which the club Chelsea are jointly and severally liable.”
The team will be in the sport book lines without Kakuta for four months and the team can’t sign any new players for the next two registration periods. Sport book has the team also having to pay Lens €130,000.
Although Chelsea has been penalized for their shady sport book actions, if they appeal as expected, they will be able to sign players until a decision is reached by the CAS.
