French Open Sportsbook Odds May Not Include Clijsters. Sportsbook odds for the French Open may not include U.S. Open champion Kim Clijsters. She is out for the next month or so after tearing a muscle in her left foot. She is hopeful of a quick return but it seems doubtful that she will be on the odds board at the online sportsbook.
Sportsbook numbers would have had her as a leading contender to win the French Open. The tournament begins on May 23rd and Clijsters would have been a threat to Serena Williams. Now she may not be able to go. “When the doctor tells you six weeks, then you start panicking.” Clijsters said, “You think of your season’s planning.”
The French Open is the second Grand Slam tournament of the year. With it starting in late May it is very questionable whether Clijsters will be ready. “I am someone who heals reasonably fast,” she said. Last year Clijsters returned from retirement and immediately was a threat vs. the odds at the sportsbook. He won the U.S. Open for her second Grand Slam title. She has already won the Brisbane International and the Sony Ericsson Open this season. She routed Venus Williams in the Sony and she is definitely capable of routing her again in the French Open.
The status of Clijsters is very important to the sportsbook odds for the French Open. Clijsters has already proven she can beat Venus Williams and there really isn’t anyone playing better. Physiotherapist Sam Verslegers said that even if Clijsters is ready, they won’t take any chances on her returning unless she is healthy. “Roland-Garros? Kim might be fit in time but we won’t be taking any risks,” said Verslegers, “We’ll be working to return a step at a time so right now it’s difficult to put a timeline on when she will return to action.”
The tennis odds at the online sportsbook will be on the board for the French Open shortly. The tournament begins in late May and will conclude on June 6th. The defending champion on the men’s side is Roger Federer while the defending women’s champ is Svetlana Kuznetsova. The favorite on the men’s side is Rafael Nadal with Roger Federer the second choice followed by Juan Martin del Potro and Novak Djokovic. The favorite on the women’s side will be Justine Henin with Serena Williams and Clijsters right behind her.
