Kobe and the Lakers Continue to be Favored at the Sportsbook

Kobe and the Lakers Continue to be Favored at the Sportsbook. Sportsbook odds will continue to favor the Los Angeles Lakers in future years as the Lakers locked up superstar Kobe Bryant through the 2013-2014 season. The Lakers are considered one of the top teams in the NBA and routinely favored at the online sportsbook because they have Kobe.

Sportsbook odds list the Lakers as one of the favorites to win the NBA title this season. The main reason the Lakers are a favorite is Kobe.  The Lakers signed him to a three-year extension on Friday. “We are extremely pleased that we were able to reach an agreement and come to terms on the extension at this time,” said Lakers general manger Mitch Kupchak. “Kobe has been a cornerstone of the Lakers for well over a decade, helping to lead us to four NBA championships and in the process developing into one of the greatest players in basketball history.”

The Lakers have now locked up three of their best players though the 2013-2014 seasons.  Pau Gasol and Ron Artest are also signed through that season.  Getting Kobe signed to an extension probably means he will end his career with the team. Sportsbook statistics indicate that he is averaging 27.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists this season. The Lakers have won four NBA titles with Kobe on the team.  He is the Lakers all-time leading scorer and he is 12th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

The Lakers will continue to be favored at the sportsbook because they have Kobe. Los Angeles is thrilled to have locked up their superstar for three more years. “We were able to accomplish those goals, helping to keep the core of this team intact for the foreseeable future and in turn help to ensure the franchise’s continued success over the years to come,” General manager Mitch Kupchak said.

Kobe is 31-years old and could have become an unrestricted free agent last July. He loves Los Angeles though and wants to finish his career with the Lakers. He is a 12-time All-Star and won the league MVP in 2008.  The online sportsbook lists Los Angeles as the favorite to win the Western Conference this season.  The Lakers are co-favorites with Cleveland to win the NBA title at the sportsbook.  Los Angeles will be the top seed in the Western Conference in the playoffs but they are likely to finish behind Cleveland for the top overall record in the league.
