Sportsbook Bettors Down on Big Ten at SBG Global

Sportsbook bettors are a fickle lot and they no doubt love a winner. As such the Big 10 has few friends in the college football sportsbook world these days and online bettors’ aversion to this top tier conference will only likely continue unless its top teams prove they belong in the discussion of top teams in the online sportsbook action. With the conferences fortunes steadily declining every passing year the Big Ten needs a jolt to get back on the sportsbook radar. Sportsbook fans will have a chance to witness what this conference is all about when the fifth ranked Buckeyes of Ohio State take on the number one team in the online rankings, the USC Trojans.

This is simply one game, but it would send an important message to rest of the sportsbook universe that the Big Ten can keep pace with the rest of the country.  There is no question that the Buckeyes are the class of this conference and Coach Jim Tressel has done a fantastic job reviving a moribund program that was once the standard bearer for college football action.

But in the past two online sportsbook national title games, Ohio State has been humiliated on the biggest stage in college football.  It was obvious in these title games that Ohio State simply didn’t have the athletes to run with the elite teams from the elite conferences in college football action.

Two SEC teams ran wild over OSU and Tressell and Co. are determined not to let it happen again this year, that’s why the USC game will so important, not just to online fans, but for the Buckeye’s to make a statement to rest of the sportsbook doubters.

Unfortunately, OSU is just one team in a conference full of mediocre squads.  The rap on the conference is that it lacks big playmakers and by most sportsbook accounts that’s true.  Wisconsin, Penn State and Illinois are still ranked in the top 25 but as the season progresses we could see them dropping.

The Badgers are at ten right now, but most  experts think that a charity ranking based on the conferences past success in the sportsbook competition.  Illinois is a questionable top 25 pick and Penn State is probably a loss away from falling out of the top rankings in the world.

OSU should feast on its weak conference opponents and maintain a top spot in the sportsbook ranking, but that doesn’t mean it deserves to be there.  And if it should reach the championship game again, a beating in the title game would prove this to the online sportsbook world.
