Army will be on the board at the sportsbook site in a bowl game for the first time in 14 years.
The Black Knights will be playing in the Armed Forces Bowl in Dallas on December 30th. You have to go all the way back to 1996 for the last time that Army was on the odds board at the offshore sportsbook in a bowl game.
Army vs. Conference USA Team
Army could get some support in their bowl game as they will be playing a team from Conference USA. The reason that Army was able to guarantee a spot before their regular season finale against Navy was because the Mountain West couldn’t come up with enough bowl eligible teams. TCU is going to a BCS bowl game and the Mountain West has just four teams for five bowl games.
Army Headed in the Right Direction
Under head coach Rich Ellerson, Army is headed in the right direction. They have won more than three games just five times in the past 14 years but two of those seasons have been with Ellerson at the helm. He has Army going to a bowl game and that was something no one thought possible a few years ago. Army still has to play Navy on December 11th so they can’t celebrate quite yet. The Black Knights will be underdogs in college football odds at the offshore sportsbook in that game against the Midshipmen.
Bowl Game is Sold Out
The Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl is already sold out. The game was moved from TCU’s Amon G. Carter Stadium because of renovations to SMU’s Gerald J. Ford Stadium. It is possible that SMU will get to play in this game and be at home but that has yet to be determined. What is set though is a sellout. Army is a great draw and with the game being shown on ESPN it should be fun to watch and interesting to wager on at the sportsbook site especially if it is Army against SMU. It would be the rushing of Army against the passing of SMU and that would be an interesting contrast and a popular one in football odds at Sbgglobal.
