Minneapolis was hit by a snowstorm that dumped about 17 inches of snow and the Metrodome collapsed. It was not the first time that the roof of the Metrodome couldn’t hold a heavy snow. The roof of the Metrodome has deflated three times. It couldn’t hold snow in 1981, 1982 and in 1983. Next season will be the last year for the Vikings with their current lease. The latest failure of the Metrodome may get the city of Minneapolis to build a new facility. The Vikings have said they will put up one third of the cost but the city would be on the hook for the bulk of a new stadium. Estimates are that a new facility would cost at least $700 million. The Vikings need to find a solution as groups in Los Angeles would love to bring the Vikings to Los Angeles.
