Sportsbook – Will Power Heavily Favored in Brazil

Sportsbook – Will Power Heavily Favored in Brazil Odds.  Will Power is heavily favored at the sportsbook to win Sunday’s Sao Paulo 300 in Brazil. Power trails Dario Franchitti in the point’s standings but only by seven points.  Power is the favorite at the Internet sportsbook while Franchitti is the second choice in the betting.

Franchitti is the two-time defending IndyCar series champion and he has started the 2011 season strongly. He has one win already and two other top three finishes.  Franchitti said he is not entirely pleased with his performance this year even though he leads the point’s race. Franchitti won the first race of the IndyCar season in St. Petersburg and has finished third in the last two races.  This weekend’s race will be the last one on road and street circuits for a while as the series goes to ovals for the next four races beginning with the Indy 500 late next month.  Franchitti started on the pole in last year’s race in Brazil but because of rain and poor strategy he did not get the win.

Pole Power
So far this season in three races it has been Will Power on the pole in every race.  He finished second at St. Petersburg, first in Alabama and 10th at Long Beach. He has led a total of 125 laps in the first three races while Franchitti has led 94 laps.  After those two there is a huge drop to the 35 laps led by Ryan Briscoe.  On road and street courses you simply have to like Power’s chances. Since joining Team Penske he has races in 15 road-street races and has won 12 poles.  Franchitti has 19 road-street races in his career and has just three poles.

Contenders
Will Power is basically even money favorite this week at the sportsbook with Franchitti the second choice at about 4-1.  Scott Dixon, Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe are all in the range of 6-1 to 8-1 while Tony Kanaan and Ryan Hunter Reay are about 12-1. The longshots at the Sbg global sportsbook are Justin Wilson, Oriol Servia, Mike Conway and Marco Andretti. The track at Sao Paulo has been resurfaced and rain is again a threat for this weekend so the race should be interesting on Sunday afternoon.
