Top NBA Draft Picks Can Impact Sportsbook Odds

There was no surprise among the top picks in the 2010 NBA Draft as fans at the sportsbook watched Washington take John Wall while Philadelphia took Evan Turner. Great players can impact sportsbook online NBA odds and Wall and Turner have that ability.Wall is considered a can’t miss player who will be a star in the NBA for years while Turner is not that far behind.  Both Washington and Philadelphia could be much improved next season simply because of these two players.  Wall dominated the college game as a freshman with Kentucky while Turner was superb with Ohio State in his time with the Buckeyes.

After the top two players it becomes more of a guessing game as to which players will dramatically help their teams next NBA Draft season.  New Jersey took Georgia Tech forward Derrick Favors and while he is a solid player, he looks to need some time to develop. Minnesota took Wesley Johnson with the fourth overall pick and Johnson has the ability to help the Timberwolves next season but he is not going to dominate a game.   Sacramento rolled the dice and drafted DeMarcus Cousins from Kentucky.  He is a player who could dominate a game if he is motivated to do so.  He has a ton of talent but he also could cause problems so there is no guarantee he will be a great player for the Kings.

New Jersey was the worst team in the NBA last season so they need the most help. Unfortunately for them they got the third pick and Favors is simply not in the same category as Wall or Turner.  The Nets do have a ton of salary cap space though so they could be improved depending upon who they add this off-season.

Minnesota had the second worst record in the league and while Wesley Johnson is a nice player he is not going to dramatically improve the Timberwolves. The NBA has a lottery system which means the worst team in the league doesn’t automatically get the top pick. That really hurt New Jersey and Minnesota this year while it helped Washington and Philadelphia. Both the Wizards and 76ers should be improved next season and in the Eastern Conference it is not out of the question that they could compete for a playoff spot.
