Top Pitchers vs. Sportsbook Baseball Odds

Sportsbook News: Top Pitchers vs. Sportsbook Baseball Odds. When you make a baseball wager you really start by looking at the starting pitching matchup. Sometimes you have an easy decision when you have a strong starter against a weak one.  Other times the decisions are not so easy when you make your wager at the Internet sportsbook.  Which pitchers have been great so far this season in baseball?

The top pitcher in terms of money made for bettors is going to be a huge shock to you.  It is the Cubs’ Carlos Silva.  The Cubs are 8-1 in Silva’s starts this season.  Silva wasn’t even guaranteed a spot in the rotation but he has been the best pitcher to wager on this season.  The other pitcher at the top is Colorado’s Ubaldo Jimenez.  He has simply been unhittable most of the season.  The odds on Jimenez are going up so you may want to show some caution but he is probably still worth following.

Many of the other top money earners in baseball are not well known pitchers.  Minnesota’s Nick Blackburn has been excellent and the Twins are 7-1 in his starts.  The Mets have gotten excellent work so far from Mike Pelfrey and New York is 7-2 in his starts.  Another New York pitcher has also done well. Andy Pettitte of the Yankees has been money in almost every start this season.  The Yankees can hit and when Pettitte is pitching they normally win.

The last five pitchers in the Top 10 in money earned for bettors are going to be a surprise.  Pittsburgh’s Brian Burres has made bettors some nice money this season as the Pirates are 4-2 in his starts. Since Pittsburgh is oftentimes a big underdog, that results in a nice profit. Washington’s Livan Hernandez is another surprise. The Nationals were 6-3 in his starts.  Another Pittsburgh pitcher who has been solid is Paul Maholm.  Again, the Pirates are big underdogs a lot and the team is 6-4 in Maholm’s starts. Cleveland’s Mitch Talbot and Kansas City’s Luke Hochevar are similar to Maholm. Both teams are routinely underdogs against the baseball odds and when those two pitchers are on the mound the teams have done well.

Those are some of the pitchers to keep an eye on as you make your baseball wagers since they are making bettors some nice money early in the season.
