Updated NBA Futures at the Sportsbook Favor Heat and Lakers. The odds to win next season’s NBA Championship are on the board at the sportsbook news with the Miami Heat slightly favored over the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.

The Heat is +150 at the Internet sportsbook while the Lakers are +250. Sportsbook news odds list every other team with double-digit odds to win the 2010-2011 NBA title. The Heat made a big splash in free agency as they were able to retain Dwyane Wade to go along with LeBron James and Chris Bosh.  Miami went from double-digit odds before their new player additions to the favorite to win next year’s title. They will still have to get past Los Angeles though and that won’t be easy.

The Orlando Magic is still considered a threat to win the title as they are 10-1. The Boston Celtics are the third choice in NBA futures with odds of 12-1. The Celtics retained their big three of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, plus head coach Doc Rivers is returning so the Celtics should be very good again next season.

Chicago added Carlos Boozer in the off-season so they are expected to be improved. The Bulls are 15-1 to win next year’s title. Dallas still has Dirk Nowitzki and they are 18-1.  Denver’s core around Carmelo Anthony remains intact and they are also 18-1. Oklahoma City has leading scorer Kevin Durant and a lot of young talent and they are 18-1. Atlanta retained Joe Johnson and they are next at 25-1. San Antonio’s veteran team is 28-1. Utah lost Carlos Boozer but picked up Al Jefferson and they are 30-1. Houston gets Yao Ming back from injury and they are 35-1. The Knicks have Amar’e Stoudmire and they are 35-1. The Suns are 35-1 after losing Stoudemire as are the Portland Trail Blazers while Milwaukee and New Orleans have odds of 40-1.

There are a lot of teams that are real long shots to win the NBA title.  Charlotte, Washington and Memphis are 50-1. Cleveland went from one of the favorites with LeBron James to a 60-1 long shot. Golden State is 75-1 while Detroit, Indiana, Philadelphia and the Los Angeles Clippers are 100-1. Minnesota, Sacramento, Toronto and New Jersey are hopeless long shots at 150-1 each.
