Wisconsin could be a Surprise vs. Sportsbook Odds in 2010

Wisconsin could be a Surprise vs. Sportsbook Odds in 2010.  One of the surprise teams in college football this season vs. the odds at the sportsbook could be Wisconsin. The Badgers will not get the attention of Ohio State in the Big 10 but they could be a better bet vs. college football odds at the online sportsbook.

Sportsbook odds list Wisconsin at 40-1 to win the national title this season. The Badgers went 10-3 last season and won their bowl game over Miami of Florida. They return 16 starters including 10 on offense.  Quarterback Scott Tolzin passed for 2,705 yards and 16 touchdowns last season but he did have 11 interceptions.  The offense is led by running back John Clay who had 1,517 yards and 18 TDs last season.  The Badgers also return wide receivers Nick Toon and Isaac Andrews as well as tight end Lance Kendricks. The offensive line for Wisconsin is loaded with talent and they are considered one of the best in the country.

The defense for Wisconsin will decide how far they go in 2010.  They lose O’Brien Schofield, who had 12 sacks last season but they do return defensive ends JJ Watt and Louis Nzegwu.  Chris Borland returns at linebacker while cornerbacks Devin Smith and Niles Brinkley also return. Wisconsin needs their defense to improve upon last season if they expect to win the Big 10.

Last season the Badgers were 7-6 against the college football odds at the online sportsbook. They could be better than that this season.  The key game for Wisconsin will be on October 16th as they host Ohio State.  The Badgers are just 1-4 at home against the spread in the last five meetings against the Buckeyes.

Ohio State opens up the 2010 season at UNLV in a game they should win. They then host winnable games against San Jose State and Arizona State, although the game against the Sun Devils is a danger. They then host Austin Peay before opening up Big 10 play at Michigan State.  If the Badgers can win that game they should beat Minnesota the following week before their meeting against the Buckeyes.  The toughest two games this season for Wisconsin look to be in back-to-back weeks as they host Ohio State on October 16th and visit Iowa the following week.
