It’s far too early to figure out who could win the 2016 Tour de France. Chris Froome, the winner of the last Tour, has a +105 line to win it all with Nairo Quintana and Alejandro Valverde, the second and third place finishers, respectively having +200 and +4500 betting odds to win.

This turn of events has thrust the Australian dark horse into the spotlight as the single greatest threat to current yellow jersey wearer Vincenzo Nibali. In a way, this scenario parallels the 1985 film American Flyers, with Porte and Froome filling the roles played by David Marshall Grant and Kevin Costner.
