Playing online poker every now and then can help you win a few extra bucks, which is in and of itself a good thing. But have you ever wondered whether you could make money playing poker? Like, really stack papers. Like do it full time and make a living out of it. And not in a hustler kind of way, either, but “as seen on TV.” First of all, you would have to be very good at it, and by “good” we mean a combination of luck and skill. Sure, people who start winning at poker are more often than not dealt good hands, but those who pay attention while they’re doing good are the ones who learn what to do when luck starts to run out.
The most important poker-related event – possibly including online poker as well – since the five-card draw tournament aboard the Lauren Belle starts today May 31st when the 2016 World Series of Poker gets underway at the Rio Hotel and Casino, just off the strip in Las Vegas. The top story leading into the WSOP is the possible return of He Who Must Not Be Named. Howard “The Professor” Lederer is currently poker’s biggest heel, and has not appeared in a World Series since 2011, but a post on Daniel Negreanu’s blog may or may not hint to a comeback. Does this mean the Apokerlypse is upon us?
Horse race tracks in California have been one of the main opponents to legalized online poker in the state of California. Why? Because, if the tribal casinos get their way, race tracks will be cut out of the market or vastly marginalized. However, with the latest bill introduced in the California legislature, that may all be changing.

As it normally is, the WSOP features a full schedule of many different events that has a little something for everyone. During this time participating players will be able to play in gold bracelet events, cash games, satellites and the deep stack tournaments that have become so popular among players. 50 consecutive days of the best poker in the world, until Monday July 18th when the final nine players reach the main event.
