Davis Cup betting this past week had Serbia defeating the United States to advance to the quarterfinals. Novak Djokovic led Serbia as the team defeated the United States in Davis Cup odds. He defeated John Isner on Sunday, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4.
Davis Cup will now see Serbia face Croatia in the quarterfinals in July. Croatia had no trouble as they routed Equador. The defending champs in Davis Cup betting also moved into the quarterfinals as Spain took out Switzerland. Davis Ferrer won the last 11 games against Stan Wawrinka as Spain won 4-1. Both Spain and Switzerland were missing their best players as Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer did not play. With the victory, Spain will now face France in the quarterfinals and that should be a competitive matchup. France defeated Germany 4-1. Spain will be expected to win in July in Davis Cup odds. “I’m happy for the game today, I made some progress,” said Ferrer. “France will be a tough hurdle but we also have the team for the job.” Spain would be even more of a favorite in Davis Cup betting if Nadal plays. “France have a good group of players but so do we.” Spanish coach Albert Costa said.
Russia was able to get through to the quarterfinals in Davis Cup betting as they defeated India. Mikhail Youzhny took out Somdev Devvarman 6-2, 6-1, 6-3 as Russia got the 3-2 win. Russia will now face Argentina in the quarterfinals. David Nalbandian beat Andreas Vinciguerra 7-5, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 for the clincher as Argentina won 3-2 over Sweden.
2009 finalist Czech Republic advanced as they took out Belgium. They will face either Chile or Israel in the quarterfinals in Davis Cup betting. The only win for Belgium in their matchup against the Czech Republic came as Steve Darcis won against Jan Hajek. Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek had singles wins on Friday and the doubles win on Saturday has already clinched the win. Berdych and Stepanek didn’t allow the Belgians to win even a set in the first three matches of the Davis Cup betting series.
When the quarterfinals begin in July it is likely that defending champion Spain will again be the favorite in Davis Cup odds. The Czech Republic should also be a favorite in Davis Cup odds with other contenders looking to be France and Serbia.
