Tennis Betting: Changes in the Women’s Tennis Betting Rankings. Serena Williams might still be the best woman player in the tennis betting odds but she’s no longer the #1 ranked woman in the world.

In terms of ability and tennis capacity there is no one better on the planet right now than Williams but due to injuries and limited tournament play she recently lost her title as the #1 ranked women’s’ player in the latest professional rankings. The new #1 in women’s tennis is hardly a household name but is a tremendous up and coming player.  Carolina Wosniacki is now the woman that the rest of the world is trying to beat.  Since bursting onto the scene at least year’s US Open tennis odds Grand Slam event she has taken the world by storm.

Wosniacki has been especially dominant of late as she just captured the China Open over the weekend.  It was her second straight victory after winning the Toray Pan Pacific Open the previous week. She nearly made it three in a row but was knocked out of the 2010 US Open in the semis.  It’ also her sixth tennis betting title of the year and there’s still a few tournaments left to play before the calendar year turns to 2011.

It’s difficult to argue with Wozniacki’s ranking and right now she’s playing the best tennis of anyone on the courts.  With Serena still nursing injuries and missing substantial chunks of the upcoming tennis betting season a real possibility Wozniacki is in a position to hold the #1 ranking for quite some time unless someone else steps their game up.

Vera Zvonareva is now ranked in the #3 spot in the world tennis odds rankings but hasn’t proven she has what it takes to play at a high level week in and week out and is still relatively unproven.  Venus Williams, #4 in the world has a good chance of climbing back to the #1 spot in the months ahead but has also battled injuries and isn’t likely to play in enough tournaments to make any huge jumps in the rankings.  And with big names in the sport like Jelena Jankovic (#7) and Maria Sharapova (#19) sliding down the rankings instead of up the new #1 ranking looks to be Wozniacki’s to lose.
