Roger Federer has won five of the past six US Open betting competitions and he looks as though he’s in pretty good shape to make a run for a sixth title in Queens. 2010 has hardly been the Swiss Maestro’s year with as he not only failed to reach the finals of the French Open and Wimbledon for the first time in years but he also dropped his #1 ranking in the world -sliding all the way to #3.
But Federer recently won in Cincinnati in what is traditionally the warm-up event for the US Open odds competition and reached the finals in the Rogers Cup prior to that. He’s playing some of his best tennis of the year right at the moment when much of his competition in the upcoming US Open is falling apart.
After defeating a red-hot Mardy Fish in finals in Cincy, Federer may have just played himself into the #1 seed for the 2010 Men’s US Open betting action.World #1 Rafael Nadal has never played well in New York and has yet to seriously contend in the US Open betting competition.
There is little argument that he’s now the best player in the world but his physical style of tennis lends itself to a short season and by mid-August every year it seems as if Nadal’s body simply doesn’t have enough left in the tank to make a serious run at the US Open betting title.
Novak Djokovic -the new world #3 after begin overtaken in the standings by Federer- has the talent to win here and has played well in the US Open betting action in the past but he doesn’t do well in hot weather and hasn’t won a tournament in quite some time.
Andy Murray the World #4 is likely the top competition for Federer in the Final Grand Slam of the year. He plays well on the hard courts and will have little pressure on him, at least nothing like what he faces every year at Wimbledon.
There’s also a chance that that American’s Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish will play their way deep into the US Open draw but we’ve been waiting nearly a decade for Roddick to win his second Slam title and we’ll likely continue to wait as the Legendary Federer adds one more Grand Slam title to his career haul.
