Tennis Betting: Can the Williams Sisters Still Dominate Women’s?. The 2010 women’s betting season is in the bag and there are plenty of interesting developments over the course of the year to sit back and contemplate. We saw the crowning of new champions, the return of familiar faces and as with every year on the women’s tour over the past decade we saw the William’s sisters dominate the competition at times.
But as both of these women start reaching an age when women (and men) have traditionally begun to see their skills and position in the tennis odds decline one of the most interesting things to watch for in the upcoming season is whether or not the women will be able to continue to dominate the Tour as the they have in the past.
We’re already starting to see signs of decline here and there and if the US Open tennis odds competition this past August was any indication the future doesn’t look as bright as the past –at least for Venus.
With Serena out of the competition and a good seed it looked as if the elder Williams would have a clear path to the title. But she was knocked out in the quarterfinals of the US Open tennis betting competition, beaten by a young player.
And perhaps age had something –or nothing- to do with the loss but it was obvious that Williams just didn’t have what it took to reach the finals and grab yet another Grand Slam trophy for the Williams’ family collection.
Serena is still a few years younger and physically the most gifted women’s player ever. She is an exceptional athlete and has only been hindered by injuries and focus throughout her amazing 13 Grand Slam title career.
At age 29 Serena is hardly an old women by any definition of the word –except when it comes to women’s tennis careers. Venus, a year older at 30 had already, arguably begun to shown signs of slowing down, although her shot making has also become better and compensated for some of this.
But things in women’s tennis betting action could be changing and with former world #1’s Justine Hennin and Kim Clijsters both coming out of retirement the Williams’ sisters might still be younger than their major competition next year.
