Tennis odds followers can be forgiven for being confused by the acronym-riddled ATP SAP Open tennis betting odds tournament.
The ATP is, of course, the tennis odds tour and the SAP is reference to the tennis betting odds tournament’s primary sponsor. And while the ATP SAP Open won’t be confused with a Grand Slam event any time soon the tournament tends to draw some big names and provides plenty of tennis excitement.
Tennis odds makers have several tournaments around the globe to handicap during the same time, but during the dates of February 9th-15th this is the premiere tennis draw anywhere in North America. Held in San Jose, CA this tournament is actually the second oldest tennis betting odds event in the country. It’s actually a tennis event rich in history and tradition and was a precursor to the US Open tennis betting odds event. The tennis event dates back to the late 1800’s and the tennis odds betting has only gotten better during that span. As evidence a tennis fan need only read through the list of former winner which reads like a tennis hall of fame list.
In recent years the tournament has lost some its drawing power as the top tennis stars in Europe tend to stay on the continent and most of the top Latin American players also tend to play in local tennis events. However, the top North American talent is almost always present at this tennis tournament and there is generally no lack for international talent either.
Since 2004 this tennis event has been dominated by players named Andy- perhaps a wise piece of tennis advice. Over the past five events Andy Roddick and Andy Murray have traded tennis titles with Roddick claiming three and Murray claiming two over the stretch. Last year’s champ Roddick looks set to claim another title as his main tennis nemesis, Murray, has agreed to play at another tournament that weekend.
The tennis will surely favor Roddick heading into the tournament and common sense would seem to make him favorite considering his past tennis success here. However, anything can happen in tennis and if other top American players like James Blake play, there is no guarantee of yet another Roddick tennis crown. Still, you’ve got like the three-time champ’s chances in this one.
